Dales Water
Abstraction Licence
Historically every new borehole for water abstraction purposes required an abstraction licence from the regulatory Authority, now the Environment Agency. However, in 2005 the regulations were relaxed. There is therefore now no requirement for an abstraction licence in those circumstances where less than 20 meters cubed (20,000 litres or 4400 gallons) of water is abstracted per day.
This is a significant amount of water meaning in the majority of circumstances an abstraction licence is now not required, cutting through cost, time and red tape.
However, in those circumstances where more water that this is required on a daily basis Dales Water is ideally positioned to help.
Dales Water in-house retains a former employee of the Environment Agency to guide clients through every aspect of applying for and gaining a new abstraction licence. From initial Section 32 consultation, water features surveying, consenting of the borehole, pumping test and analysis, advertising and formal licence application justification Dales Water assists clients to abstract water within the law.
Dales Water’s support doesn’t stop there however, whether your licence needs varying to reflect changes in circumstance or whether it needs renewinging as its about to expire Dales Water are there to support you. In some circumstances clients may wish to take advantage of our complete private water supply management service and leave the management of their licence to us.
