Borehole Water Supplies UK

Dales Water has provided borehole private water supplies throughout the United Kingdom for range of purposes and applications.

Case histories / studies:

Case Study 1:

Dales Water Services Ltd were contracted by the owners of a farm in Richmond to investigate the existing spring water supply at the farm house, the quality was unknown and it only provided an intermittent supply.

Following sampling and analysis, provided by Dales Water, of the quality and quantity of the spring, it was concluded that the spring was not fit for purpose.

Dales Water were asked to design and specify a new abstraction borehole to service the property, quickly establishing that the property would not require more than 20m3/day and would therefore not need a ground investigation consent or licence from the Environment Agency.

The borehole was designed and drilled to a depth of 75m obtaining a good yield of suitable water.

Case Study 2:

Dales Water Services Ltd were asked to provide a specification and quotation for an Outdoor Centre in County Durham. Following a thorough review of the sites hydrogeology it was concluded that two options were available. To drill into the shallow Limestone, giving high volume poor quality (hard) water or deeper into the sandstone giving reasonable yield but better quality water. It was concluded that the deeper water should be targeted. Drilling took place giving sufficient yield from the Sandstone and good quality.

Case Study 3:

Dales Water Services Ltd were asked to drill for private water supply near North Yorkshire to provide water for lake top up and use within a log cabin development. Drilling took place to a depth of 55m with artesian pressure being found. The water quality was superb and the lake are kept full all year round and cabins supplied with potable water.

Case study 4:

Dales Water Services Ltd were contacted to attend to an industrial site to drill two large diameter (12 inch) boreholes to 130m depth. The boreholes were to provide in excess of 130m3 (28,600 gallons) of water per hour. The water from the boreholes was artesian (coming out under its own pressure) and Dales Water sealed the boreholes to ensure that this was kept under control, whilst allowing access to install appropriate equipment to harness the water within the industrial site as cooling water.
