Earlier this year we were contacted by Leeds & District Allotment Gardeners Federation who were undertaking several shows in the coming summer and wanted to feature water as part of their stand. In particular the federation wanted to look at alternatives to utilising mains water. We were more than happy to assist them having undertaken several borehole water supply boreholes for allotments in the past and we will always try to help local community projects where possible.

After getting in touch Phil from Leeds & District Allotment Gardeners Federation came to visit our office in Ripon where we could show some of our equipment and discuss what they were trying to achieve. In a nutshell the LDGF required:

  • A basic borehole set up to demonstrate what a borehole installation and the borehole headworks looks like
  • Details on what boreholes do and how they save money
  • A pump to demonstrate what these look like
  • Contact details to pass on to anyone who is interested in a borehole water supply

We supplied Phil with several pieces of kit and information on how it all worked. Phil confirmed that he wanted to demonstrate a basic set up and could facilitate the rest.

Last weekend saw the first of the shows that Leeds & District Allotment Gardeners Federation are exhibiting at take place at the Harrogate Spring Flower show. Phil sent us some pictures and we are very pleased with what they have managed to achieve and, evidently, so were the show judges!

Congratulations to Phil and his team!
