Last month Jonny and Joe attended the Craven District Private Water Supplies event over in Skipton, North Yorkshire. It’s been 2 years since the inaugural event which was very popular with residents throughout the Yorkshire Dales region as it gave them a chance to speak with regulators and private water supply engineers like us.

The event was started following the Private Water Supply Regulations of 2009 that came into force during January 2010. The new regulations represented a big change for many domestic users and with a large percentage of homes around the Skipton area either completely off mains supply or using a combination of mains water and private water supply it’s an important subject.

The day provided a great opportunity for a large number of home owners to learn about Private Water Supplies, the various regulations in place, water treatment options and to see the new technologies or improvements that could be introduced to their own private water supply.

We brought along various pieces of equipment to the event including an e.sybox demo system which proved very popular with homeowners looking to increase water pressure in rural locations. Joe, our Lead Engineer, who has overseen several projects in the last 6 months that have made use of the new e.sybox system, talked a number of visitors through its benefits (and limitations) and whether or not it would be suitable for their needs.

Water treatment and potential contamination was another hot topic and the DWI (Drinking Water Inspectorate) held a workshop at the start of the day that discussed this in depth. Along with the e.sybox we also brought along a custom designed water treatment system designed in house by Jonny that allowed visitors to see all the working parts and get a working knowledge of how everything works.

We’d like to say thanks to Craven District Council for putting on the event and we’re looking forward to the next one. There’s some talk of expanding the event to other areas including Thirsk so stay tuned.
